That, my dear is known as the Chatboard Existentialist Predicament. Many believe that a chatboard has an essence independent of what can be seen, heard or felt and that, whether or not a chatboard is used, it still remains a chatboard in itself. Some philosophers, such as Jean-Paul Sartre disagree, saying that a chatboard has no essence prior to its existence and that it is ultimately reduced to how it chooses to act. Pragmatists, such as John Dewey say that a chatboard is defined as both what it is physically as well as how it is used. The functionalist view is that a chatboard cannot be reduced to its fundemental physical components because that is irrelevant to its definition. Rather, it is defined by its function and that whatever it is made of, if it performs the functions of a chatboard, it is a chatboard.
what's the point in chatboard if no one ever really uses it? :""(((
